Environmental aspects of sharing economy

Abstract

The new economic phenomenon of sharing economy has been the subject of many different
studies. In my paper I will give an insight into the possible contribution of sharing economy
to sustainable growth meeting consumer needs and at the same time enabling transition
to circular Economy and reducing GHG emission. The picture is not that clear, however,
so I will try to analyse it in its complexity. I will assess the effects of sharing economy on
the environment from an institutional, and behavioural economic point of view, mapping
long-term processes, and placing them in a broader economic context.

A sharing economy új gazdasági jelenség, amivel már több tanulmány is foglalkozott. Írásomban betekintést adok a sharing economy olyan lehetséges hozzájárulásának a fenntartható növekedéshez, ami megfelel a fogyasztói igényeknek, ugyanakkor elősegíti a körforgásos gazdaság kialakulását és csökkenti az üvegházhatásű gázok kibocsátását. Ez viszont
közel sem ilyen egyszerű, ezért megpróbálom elemezni a téma komplexitását. A sharing
economy hatásait megvizsgálom mind intézményi- és viselkedési közgazdaságtani oldalról
is, a hosszútávú folyamatokat egy szélesebb gazdasági kontextusban értelmezve.
